Summer Camp and Slime Recipe

On Saturday morning we woke up early and drove to San Antonio for a little fun before camp drop off.  We spent the day and one night at the Hyatt Hill Country resort.  It has been on our list of places to go for the last several years and it did not disappoint.

The slides and lazy river were lots of fun!

One inner tube just wasn't enough.

Kyle and Jenna gave the balloon toss a try.

They had lots of activities planned... one of them was zoomagination.  Unfortunately, we only saw the last animal but I bet it was the coolest.  The kids were so excited to see a sloth.

Jenna wanted to touch the snake.  Luke and I passed on that opportunity.  Ha!

               Bike riding

Sticky fingers, sticky mouths, yummy chocolate!

Our favorite activity was watching Beauty and the Beast on the lawn.  They provided blankets and popcorn... it was the perfect end to our day.

This little one didn't make it very long.   He slept through the whole movie and all night long.

Lane was already in San Antonio for a swim meet.  We got up and ready early Sunday morning to watch him swim in a few events and pick him up for camp.  He did awesome at his meet.. he got two B cuts.   We are so proud of him!

Last year we sent Lane to overnight camp at T Bar M in New Braunfels for the first time.  It is a week long Christian sports camp. He had such a great experience that we signed him and Jenna up for camp this summer on pick up day last year.

They were both so excited to have top bunks!

I was so worried that Jenna would have a hard time saying goodbye but she was all smiles!  My prayer is that they make new friends, step out of their comfort zones, and most of all know how much God loves them!

Luke is thrilled to be an only child this week.  His first request was to make slime so that is exactly what we did today!

Here's what you need:

*white school glue
*baking soda
*food coloring
*shaving cream
*contact solution

Step 1:  Add 1/2 cup of glue to a bowl.

Step 2:  Add drop of food coloring and stir until you like the color.

Step 3: Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda and mix.

Step 4:  Next add 1/4 cup of shaving cream.

Step 5:  Stir

Step 6:  Stir in 1 tablespoon of contact solution.

Mix all the ingredients together.  The slime will begin to form quickly and will be sticky.
After you pull it out of the bowl and play with it for a few minutes it won't be sticky anymore.

This little guy had fun playing with his slime and already has plans for a new color to make tomorrow.

Do you have a favorite slime recipe?  I think we might try making it with the clear glue that has sparkles in it.  If you make this recipe or have one to share please leave a message in the comments.

Back to Blogging Again

After a very long break (like four years) I am blogging again.  I have a few favorite bloggers that I follow and I love reading their daily blog posts about daily life, fashion, vacations, etc.  My goal is to write a post 3 times a week as a way to chronicle our daily life.  Just looking back at my previous posts was so fun to see how much our little family has changed over the last six years.  I hope you will enjoy reading about our adventures as well!

Anniversary Get-Away

In July, Kyle and I were lucky enough to go on a five day cruise to celebrate our 11th Anniversary.  We really didn't get to do anything special for our 10th last July because Luke was so young.  So, I insisted we had to do something this year!  Grandparents were gracious and watched our little ones while we were away (even if we kind of forced them into it).

Day 1: (at Sea)
Our cruise actually set sail on our anniversary, July 20th.  Here we are that night at dinner!
We had a great time just getting to eat and talk without any interruptions :)

Day 2: (at Sea)
I started the day off at the spa to get a very relaxing fire and ice pedicure.  We spent most of the day laying out by the pool, eating all the yummy, and just enjoying all the fun activities the ship has to offer!

Day 3: (Progresso, Yucatan)

We decided to take an excursion to a private beach club this day.  Here we are waiting to for our bus to arrive.  We spent a few hours there enjoying the beach, eating lunch, kayaking, a massage, and just relaxing!

Toes in the sand, love it!

Day 4:  Cozumel, Mexico

On our way to Dolphinarius!  We had a great time swimming with the dolphins at this beautiful place.  We got to kiss the dolphins, hug them, dance with them, and take a ride on them.  It was a really neat experience!  Unfortunately, they don't let you take any pictures yourself and the ones they took were really expensive and poor quality.

Here's a picture of Dolphinarius!  So beautiful!
After we swam with the dolphins, they fed us a yummy lunch.  Kyle and I decided to take a taxi to Paradise Beach rather than going back to the ship right away.  I am so glad we did; it was a free beach and was absolutely gorgeous!

The water in Cozumel is so clear!  We had fun on the water trampolines and water slides!  Before we boarded the ship we did a little shopping at the pier and bought a few souvenires for the kids.
Our day in Cozumel just went by too fast.  We would love to go back and spend several days there!

Day 5: (at Sea)

We enjoyed our last day away by relaxing again (notice a trend here).  We found a nice shady part of the ship and read books, took naps, and just enjoyed the peace and quiet.  It was great!

Kyle enjoying the view!

Waiting for the show to start on our last night!

Of course we missed our little ones, but it was a much needed break!

Little Ballerina

I think since the moment I found out we were having a little girl, I dreamed of her taking dance lessons.  Can't believe that time has come!  What has been even more fun is seeing just how excited Jenna was to start lessons.  The day we went to register her, she wanted to stay and dance and also had to show the dance instructor all the "moves" she already "knows".

Her first class was last Monday and she did great!  So far she loves everything about it from getting all dressed up, tapping, following the teacher, standing on her tip toes, to getting the sticker and lollipop at the end!

Here is a video of the first few moments of class!

First Days of School

Lane started 1st Grade on August 27th!

He looks so grown up in this picture!

Jenna started Children's Day Out on September 4th.

Our baby girl sure is getting big!  She didn't even cry when I dropped her off!
